Indonesia is the largest e-commerce market in SEA, with an e-commerce gross market value expecting to reach $100 billion by 2025.
Indonesia accounts for more than 40% of the population in Southeast Asia, of which its urban population is estimated to increase from 55% in 2018 to 70% by 2030. On top of its populous demographic, rising affluence and growing e-commerce penetration makes Indonesia more attractive for investments.
Although these factors frame an optimistic investment outlook for e-commerce in Indonesia, there are also potential obstacles that businesses have to bear in mind as they plan to enter the Indonesian market.
